Tura, July 1: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls gathered pace in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district, with election officials distributing 32,698 Enumeration Forms (EFs) by the end of the second day of the exercise.
According to the District Election Office, the district has a total electorate of 3,96,914 voters, comprising 1,97,886 male voters, 1,99,027 female voters and one third-gender voter.
As of 6.30 pm on Tuesday, Enumeration Forms had been distributed to 8.24 percent of the electorate, while 1,944 forms had been digitised, accounting for 0.49 per cent of the total voters.
Among the Assembly constituencies, Phulbari recorded the highest progress with 8,488 forms distributed, covering 23.64 per cent of its electorate. It was followed by Dalu with 3,512 forms (15.07 per cent) and Rajabala with 5,285 forms (13.63 per cent).
Other constituencies reported steady progress, with Selsella distributing 2,704 forms, Dadenggre 2,732, Raksamgre 2,036, Tikrikilla 2,028, Gambegre 1,576, North Tura 1,744, South Tura 1,573 and Rangsakona 1,020 forms.
In terms of digitisation, Dadenggre led the district with 801 Enumeration Forms digitised, followed by Tikrikilla (305), Rangsakona (247) and North Tura (155).
Election officials said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are continuing with door-to-door distribution and collection of forms to ensure that the electoral rolls are updated and all eligible voters are included in the revision exercise.
The district administration said the Special Intensive Revision is progressing as planned and urged voters to cooperate with election officials to ensure an accurate and error-free electoral roll.
