Imphal, Jan 10: Panic buying of fuel was reported across several parts of Imphal on Friday, with long queues forming at petrol pumps after fuel dealers announced an indefinite strike from Saturday, citing security concerns following repeated attacks on fuel stations.
On Thursday evening around 7.30 pm, suspected militants hurled a bomb at MS Elidas Oil Pump at Moirang Thana Leikai under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district. No casualties were reported in the explosion.

The incident triggered fears of fuel shortages, prompting motorists to rush to petrol pumps across the city to fill their vehicle tanks. Long queues of vehicles were seen at several fuel outlets throughout Imphal on Friday.
The latest attack occurred despite security measures reportedly being in place for the protection of petrol pumps, raising fresh concerns among fuel dealers.

In response, the Manipur petroleum dealers’ fraternity convened an emergency meeting and announced an indefinite strike, demanding enhanced security arrangements for fuel stations across the state.
