Itanagar, Nov 11: The Special Judge (POCSO), Pasighat, has convicted Bomdo Tali and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a heinous case of sexual assault.
According to police reports, a written FIR was lodged on November 27, 2023, by the victim, identified as Miss A, alleging that the accused had committed rape upon her. Following the complaint, a case was registered under Sections 342, 354B, and 376 of the IPC, read with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, at the Women Police Station, Pasighat.

The investigation was led by Inspector Ojum Riba, then Officer-in-Charge of the Women Police Station, Pasighat. Her thorough and professional probe ensured that the case was pursued with due diligence, leading to the conviction of the accused.
After a fair trial, the Special Judge, POCSO Court, Pasighat, pronounced the judgment on September 18, 2025, a copy of which was received on Monday.

East Siang Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Lamba, commended Inspector Riba for her “dedication, sincerity, and professionalism” in bringing justice to the survivor. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any incident of child or sexual abuse without delay.
Lamba further emphasized the importance of community awareness, timely reporting, and collective vigilance in preventing crimes against women and children. He appealed to the public to immediately contact the nearest police station or dial child helpline numbers to ensure swift intervention and justice.
