Phek, July 27: In a unique initiative to help jail inmates rebuild their lives through sustainable livelihood skills, Phek Police has launched Project Revive, a rehabilitation programme aimed at making inmates self-reliant after their release. As part of the initiative, a training-cum-awareness session on vermicomposting was organised to equip inmates with practical, income-generating skills.

Superintendent of Police, Phek, Dr Pritpal Kaur, IPS, launched the initiative on Monday in collaboration with ICAR-KVK Phek and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Addressing the inmates, Dr Kaur urged them to embrace the opportunity for a fresh start, leave crime behind and earn an honest livelihood with dignity.

A 2016-batch IPS officer, Dr Kaur is widely respected for blending firm policing with compassion. A recipient of several national and international honours, she is affectionately known among the Chakhesang community as “Mütükhrülü”, meaning “loved by everyone”, in recognition of her community-centric approach that combines policing with education, rehabilitation and livelihood development.
