Shillong, April 23: C&RD Minister Hamletson Dohling on Saturday inaugurated the tarmac road for the village of Pomlum at 7th Mile in Upper Shillong. The road is about 0.978 km in length and had been a long standing demand of the villagers.
The road was constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh.
Dohling expressed joy at the timely completion of the road and hoped that the road will go a long way in bringing the overall development to the village.
Headman of Pomlum, A. Lyngdoh, stated that it is a historic moment for the village as the road had been in a dilapidated condition for a long time. Thanking the MLA, he informed that the road was completed even before any scheme had been sanctioned. “This shows the sincerity and commitment that the MLA has for his constituency,” he said.
