SHILLONG, OCT 28: Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of the Regional Committee for West Jaintia Hills, Sniawbhalang Dhar, has stated that the report on the villages along the disputed stretch, including those under Block I and Khanduli-Psiar, is nearing completion.
“More or less, the report on the villages along the stretch is about to be completed. Once submitted, we will inform the Chief Minister so that the two regional committees from Meghalaya and Assam can sit,” Dhar said.
Regarding the demand to ensure all 56 villages under Block I are included in Meghalaya, Dhar emphasized that the regional committees have been set up to examine the issue and submit a report on the status of these villages.

“One cannot say that we should do it. Therefore, the regional committees have been set up to examine the issue and place our report as to what are those 56 villages and how they are. Therefore, we have directed the Deputy Commissioner to submit a detailed report on this,” he added.
Dhar also stated that he has conveyed to the Chairman of the Assam Regional Committee that Meghalaya is ready to meet at any time to resolve the issue, but it seems that they are busy due to the upcoming elections in Assam.
“I have conveyed the message to the chairman of the Assam regional committee that we are ready to meet at any time but it seems that they are busy due to the upcoming elections in Assam. If they are ready, we are ready to sit at any time,” Dhar said.
