Six Star FC wins 1st Saba Knock-out Tournament 2021 via tie-breaker

Jowai, Dec 26: The 1st Saba Knock-out Tournament 2021 concluded with the final match held on the 23rd December 2021 at Saba Football Ground, West Jaiñtia Hills.

The Tournament was organised by the Saba Dorbar Chnong in collaboration With West Jaiñtia District Police, Meghalaya with the objective of upgrading the existing infrastructure of Saba LP School of the village and to further build a healthy rapport with the Assam Police through their active participation in the tournament.

During the closing ceremony a short meeting was held where Syrpai Dkhar was the Chief Guest while the MDC of the area, Aibor Shadap was the Guest of Honour in the presence of the In-charge of the Saba BOP, SI John K. Majaw, the Waheh Chnojg (Headman) of Saba Andreas Suchiang, the Organising Secretary of the JSU, Emperor Bareh amongst others.

During the meeting, Syrpai Dkhar congratulated the Dorbar Chnong of Saba for organizing such an event in collaboration with the District Police by stating that education is the best weapon to fight against poverty, backwardness and health related issues. Rural masses should not believe in the idea that only the urban lot can achieve in terms of education, employment, general awareness or other matters but they can compete in any level to be at par with the urban lot.

Further, he thanked the Police Department who willingly collaborated with the Dorbar Shnong to fulfill the dreams of the village elders as he could see that the police personnel are very friendly with the public and they are ready to work with the village.

Aibor Shadap expressed his happiness to be part of this program and congratulated the Dorbar Chnong of Saba for being able to complete the renovation of the school which is in a deteriorating condition.

“I give my blessing to the Saba Dorbar to aspire and go ahead with this cause. We have witnessed the condition of the school… and I’m happy that now the children won’t have to worry anymore about the pouring rain during rainy season seeping through the worn-out CGI sheets,” said the MDC.

The final match was between Suchiang FC and Six Star FC which was played beautifully whereby a Tie-breaker was held to decide the winner of the Tournament.

The Tie Breaker was a decider where Six Star FC won by 7-6.

During the half-time of the match the new renovated building of Saba LP School was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest and other invitees.

While delivering the vote of thanks, the Headman of Saba Village thanked the local MLA, Nujor Sungoh, for helping the village Dorbar to complete the renovation of the school and that the village is happy to be able to complete the renovation before the closing ceremony of the tournament.

He also thanked the MDC for his presence and support and also a special gratitude to the DC & SP for collaborating with the Village Dorbar and specially to the In-charge of the Saba Border Camp for supporting the Dorbar throughout the tournament.
