Guwahati, June 29: Assam is set to immerse itself in the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the state government announcing dedicated Fan Parks where football enthusiasts can watch every match live on giant screens in a vibrant, stadium-like atmosphere in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.
Speaking on Sunday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the CM FIFA Fan Park initiative, organised by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), will give football lovers across the state an opportunity to celebrate the world’s biggest sporting spectacle together.
The first fan park will open at Latasil Playground in Guwahati on June 29, followed by another at Chowkidingee Field in Dibrugarh on June 30. Both venues will screen all FIFA World Cup matches live, allowing hundreds of fans to cheer for their favourite teams in a shared viewing experience.
Inviting football enthusiasts from Assam and beyond, the Chief Minister said watching the tournament together would make the World Cup even more memorable while creating a festive atmosphere around the event. The initiative is also expected to promote community participation and celebrate the spirit of sport.
The decision to host the fan parks reflects Assam’s growing football culture. Guwahati has previously hosted international football matches, the Indian Super League (ISL) and the FIFA U-17 World Cup, strengthening its reputation as one of India’s emerging football destinations.
With the launch of the CM FIFA Fan Park, Guwahati and Dibrugarh are expected to become vibrant gathering points for football fans from across Assam and neighbouring states, as they come together to celebrate the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup 2026.
