Shillong, June 30: Meghalaya on Tuesday launched ‘Achiever of the Month’, an entrepreneurial recognition programme that aims to put the spotlight on successful entrepreneurs and inspire more young people to pursue innovation and enterprise.
Launching the initiative at a function here, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the government’s role is to create an enabling environment and encourage young people to transform their ideas into successful businesses, but stressed that entrepreneurship remains the real engine of economic growth.
“We want to see many young people who can be pioneers in their own right. Your work can motivate thousands,” the Chief Minister said.
Under the initiative, one outstanding entrepreneur from different sectors will be recognised every month and given a platform to share their journey. The month of July has been dedicated to entrepreneurs, with storytelling sessions, public interactions and social media campaigns planned across the state to highlight inspiring entrepreneurial journeys.
The Chief Minister described entrepreneurs as the backbone of Meghalaya’s economy and praised their spirit, innovation and contribution to livelihood generation.
“Many entrepreneurs start their ventures with nothing but their ideas and determination. Such efforts must be recognised,” Sangma said, adding that the government remains committed to supporting such initiatives.
At the inaugural programme, 50 entrepreneurs from different fields were honoured. Andy Kupar Lyngdoh, Founder and CEO of ParadigmatiX Pvt. Ltd., was named the first ‘Achiever of the Month’. His Shillong-based company operates on an export-oriented model, providing graphic design and presentation design services to global clients, including Microsoft Corporation.
Several entrepreneurs present at the event shared their journeys of overcoming challenges, transforming humble beginnings into successful enterprises and creating employment opportunities for local communities.
“Do not be afraid to take risks and chase your dreams. If someone tells you that you cannot succeed, make sure you prove them wrong,” the Chief Minister told aspiring entrepreneurs.

He also highlighted the growing opportunities in emerging sectors such as agriculture, sports and music, and spoke about the PRIME programme, launched in 2019, as a key initiative to nurture local entrepreneurship and help Meghalaya’s brands and products reach markets beyond the state.
Over the coming months, the ‘Achiever of the Month’ programme will recognise individuals from sectors including agriculture, sports, education and public service, with the objective of building a statewide culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.
