Skills Meghalaya trainees celebrate World Youth Skills Day with success stories, awareness drive

Ampati, July 15: Trainees under Skills Meghalaya in South West Garo Hills marked World Youth Skills Day with a series of activities showcasing the impact of vocational training while promoting the importance of skill development and youth empowerment.

A highlight of the celebration was a special broadcast on Akashvani (All India Radio), Tura, where selected trainees shared their success stories, describing how Skills Meghalaya programmes had improved their employability, livelihood opportunities and confidence.

Across various training centres in the district, trainees participated in awareness campaigns and creative activities, including preparing theme-based cakes, designing informative charts and creating slogans highlighting the value of skill development and lifelong learning.

An awareness session was also organised to sensitise trainees on the significance of World Youth Skills Day and the role of vocational education in fostering entrepreneurship, enhancing employability and driving sustainable economic growth.

Officials said the programme reaffirmed Skills Meghalaya’s commitment to equipping young people with industry-relevant skills and encouraging them to pursue employment and self-employment opportunities through continuous learning and upskilling.
