Guwahati, Dec 19: The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has responded to mounting speculation surrounding the death of singer and actor Zubeen Garg, clarifying that investigations conducted so far do not point to foul play.
The clarification comes amid reports in Indian media claiming that a Special Investigation Team has charged four persons in connection with Garg’s alleged murder.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the SPF said the case is still under investigation under the Singapore Coroners Act 2010. “Based on our investigations so far, the SPF does not suspect foul play in the death of Mr Garg,” the statement added.
Authorities confirmed that once investigations are complete, findings will be submitted to the State Coroner in Singapore. A Coroner’s Inquiry (CI), which is a public, fact-finding process to establish the cause and circumstances of death, has been scheduled for January and February 2026.
The police further urged the public not to engage in speculation or circulate unverified information online.
“The SPF is committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation into the case. We seek the patience and understanding of the parties involved,” the statement added.
Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19 triggering widespread shock and emotional reactions across the region.
