Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan launched to empower women and their families

Tura, Sept 17: The District Health Society, West Garo Hills organised the district launch of Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan on Wednesday at the District Maternity & Child Hospital in Tura on Wednesday.

The initiative aimed to empower women and their families by providing essential health services directly within the community.

The campaign started from today and run for two weeks, till October 2, 2025 focusing on preventive care and early detection.

Health camps will be set up at various locations, offering a wide range of services.

These include screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), anemia, ENT and tuberculosis.

The program will also deliver comprehensive maternal and child health services, such as immunizations and awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene.

Beyond physical health, the initiative will also address mental well-being and facilitate blood donation drives to help secure a stable blood supply.

Health workers will also assist residents with enrolling in government schemes like Ayushman Bharat, ensuring more people have access to vital healthcare coverage.

Gracing the event were Dr. Jakrambal A Sangma, DMHO; Dr. Ivonne M Sangma, DMCHO; and Dr. Bollen S Sangma, Medical Superintendent, District Maternity & Child Hospital.

Officials stressed that the campaign’s success hinges on the active participation of frontline health workers and the public, with the ultimate goal of building a healthier, stronger society.
