Congress chief Vincent H Pala has expressed caution over the government's proposal to insert Inner Line Permit (ILP)-like provisions in the new Immigration and Foreigners' Act, 2025, stating that it's too early to comment without seeing the text of the Act.
The Assam Cabinet on Tuesday approved the framing of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) under the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950, to empower district authorities to identify and expel illegal migrants from the state.
