The construction led by KSU’s Laban circle is a way of protest to send a message to the government that they would not allow any ‘illegal’ non-tribal to settle in the area.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Friday said residents at the Maxwelton Estate will have to be prepared to shift from that location if they are “illegal settlers”.
In a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, president of the KSU Laban Circle Reuben Najiar said that there is a huge number of illegal settlers settling in the area without the consent or approval of the Dorbar Shnong Kenches Trace Oxford Rilbong or any appropriate authority for that matter.
