The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hailed its performance in the ongoing Assam Panchayat elections as historic and record-breaking. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Assam BJP general secretary and MLA Diplu Ranjan Sharma said the party, along with its NDA allies, has surpassed all previous benchmarks—both in terms of public support and uncontested victories.
In a significant development ahead of the upcoming Panchayat elections in Assam, a total of 2,902 candidates have been declared elected unopposed across various constituencies, according to the State Election Commission (SEC).
According to the result, the BJP won 113 out of 116 seats in the eight zilla parishads, the Congress secured two seats, while one seat went to the CPI-M.
