Teachers under the banner of the North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) and Meghalaya Tribal Teachers’ Association (MeTTA) on Friday sought the intervention of the Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar, who is also the chief rector of NEHU, to end the ongoing impasse and restore normalcy in the university.
In a memorandum to Dhankhar, AMSSASTA president, Peter Thyrniang, said, “(We) urge your honour kindly to take prompt intervention regarding the enhancement of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ salary.”
Speaking to media persons, Rakkam said that decision to enhance the salary of over 13000 SSA teachers may not be practically possible immediately in view of the financial constraint faced by the government.
