The Khasi Students' Union on Friday paid tribute to Khasi freedom fighter U Tirot Sing Syiem on his 191st death anniversary and issued a strong warning against uranium mining in Meghalaya.
Arts and Culture Minister Sanbor Shullai has announced plans to re-erect a full-size statue of Tirot Sing Syiem, a freedom fighter, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Museum and Cultural Center was inaugurated by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Paul Lyngdoh who was also the chief guest at the event in the presence of Mairang MLA, Metbah Lyngdoh, Principal Secretary, Arts and Culture, FR Kharkongor, Syiem of Nongkhlaw Hima PM Syiemlieh and other dignitaries in attendance
Minister in-charge of Arts and Culture, Paul Lyngdoh informed on Wednesday that the lifesize statue and bust of the legendary Khasi freedom fighter, U Tirot Sing Syiem, are set to be unveiled in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on February 16.
