Shillong, July 25: As the Durand Cup 134th Edition match between Shillong Lajong FC and the Foreign Services Team is scheduled for July 26 at the JN Stadium, Polo, the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for the general public.
The advisory outlines specific traffic diversions and parking arrangements to ease congestion and ensure public safety on match day. The restrictions will come into effect starting from 2:00 PM onwards on July 26.
Key Traffic Diversions:
- No entry from City Hut Dhaba towards Polo Market; vehicles will be diverted from Main Road Kachari Junction (from 2:00 PM).
- No entry from Lumjingshai Junction towards CRPF Junction and beyond (from 2:00 PM).
- No entry from 4th Furlong Junction to Polo; vehicles to be diverted via C.S. Junction and beyond (from 3:00 PM).
- No entry from Ganesh Das Hospital to Polo Market via Lawmali Junction; vehicles to be diverted through Lumjingshai and Jingshanbriew, Jaiaw (from 2:00 PM).
- Heavy Motor Vehicles from FCI to Polo (except those ferrying football supporters) will be diverted towards Mawroh and Golflink Junction (from 2:00 PM).
- No entry from CRPF Junction to Polo Market except for VIP vehicles and car pass holders (from 3:00 PM).
- No right turn from Matri Mandir Junction to Polo Market; vehicles to be diverted via 4th Furlong Junction (from 2:00 PM).
- No entry from Golflink Junction towards Polo; diversion via Tiara Restaurant Junction to Pynthorbah (from 3:00 PM).

- Software Technology Park (Lumjingshai) – one-side parking
- Red Field (opposite Golf Retreat)
- Tiara Restaurant Junction to CM Connect Office Junction – one-side parking
- Golflink Tri-Junction to Tiara Restaurant Junction
- Stretch near Shillong Municipal Office
- State Convention Centre premises
- Behind Raj Bhawan
No Parking Zones:
- Pinewood Hotel to BJP Office stretch
- CM Bungalow to Polo Towers road
- Majestic Hotel to Polo stretch
- CRPF Junction, Polo
- Polo to 4th Furlong stretch
- Lawmali Junction to Lumjingshai Junction stretch
The public has been urged to cooperate with the authorities and adhere to the traffic regulations to avoid inconvenience. The Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, IPS, who issued the advisory, expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience and thanked the public for their understanding and support during the major sporting event.
