SHILLONG, JUL 16: NEIGRIHMS’ Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, along with the Shillong Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society, organized the AOGIN-India Interim CME at NEIGRIHMS recently, drawing over 120 healthcare professionals from across the Northeast.
The event brought together gynaecologists, postgraduate students, district medical officers from Meghalaya and delegates from other NE states for discussions and a hands-on workshop.
With prevention as the central theme, the CME covered the latest advances in gynaecological cancer care.
Experts led sessions on screening, diagnosis and treatment, while workshop modules on surgical and diagnostic procedures drew active participation.

Keynote speaker Padma Dr Neerja Bhatla spoke on cervical cancer prevention and elimination.
The program also addressed HPV-related cancers, current vaccination strategies, and new developments in HPV vaccines.
Inaugurating the program, Prof (Dr) Nalin Mehta, Director of NEIGRIHMS, lauded the department for the initiative.
He said such academic platforms are crucial to close the gap between early cancer screening and timely treatment.
AOGIN, the Asia-Oceania Research Organisation on Genital Infections and Neoplasia, specializes in research and awareness on gynaecological cancers.
