Tura, Aug 1: The hullabaloo being raised by Tura BJP MDC over fund allocation is turning to be a major embarrassment to him after GHADC disclosed that funds worth a high of Rs. 1 crore 57 lakh has been earmarked for Tura region out of a total of Rs. 18.20 crores released to GHADC by the 15th Finance commission.
“Tura was given the largest share of funds worth Rs. 1.57 Crore for development projects. The remaining funds will be distributed among 28 other constituencies in Garo Hills according to the area and its requirements,” informed Executive Members of the Benedic R Marak led Executive Committee.
They reminded that it is the discretion of the GHADC EC to allocate funds for projects and every attempt is made to ensure each constituency gets a share of projects.
“It is a known fact that every ruling side will try and provide the best for their respective areas, but at the same time, we have also allocated funds to areas that are represented by MDCS belonging even to the opposition side. This was not reciprocated during the time of Boston Marak as CEM when the Congress did not even include any of the opposition areas for development projects,” the EMs remided.
