Williamnagar, Nov19: Hundreds of students, residents, and government officials came together on Tuesday morning to participate in the Ek Bharat–Aatmanirbhar Bharat Unity March held across Williamnagar town.
The march was organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This nationwide initiative is part of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s flagship programme, coordinated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to promote unity, patriotism, and national integration.

The programme commenced at 8:00 AM at the Rongrengre Government Higher Secondary School playground. The Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, R.P. Marak, Superintendent of Police, Stephen A. Rynjah, along with the ADCs, BDO, DSP and several other officials graced the occasion and actively participated in the march, adding significance to the event.

The Unity March covered an approximately 7 km loop across Williamnagar town, beginning and ending at the Rongrengre Government Higher Secondary School playground. Students marched with enthusiasm and discipline, showcasing their patriotic spirit and expressing solidarity with the ideals of national unity and self-reliance.

The event concluded at 10:00 AM, marking a successful and meaningful tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the visionary leader who played a pivotal role in the political integration of India. The march not only honoured his enduring legacy but also inspired the youth to uphold the values of unity, strength, and nation-building.
