John Rymbai, a resident of Mawroh in Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi, has been passionately working to protect the Lum Wyrtoh forest and its diverse species. Granted permission by Raid Nongpoh, Rymbai has dedicated over two years to this cause. Starting in 2022, Rymbai began his efforts by planting numerous species of trees, including fruit trees varieties. His goal is to make the forest denser and greener, for the benefit of both the people and the wildlife of the region. Rymbai is nurturing the forest which is sacred to the community of Raid Nongpoh and the Dorbar Shnong Nongpoh. It borders the Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary, which is managed by the Wildlife Department of the Government of Meghalaya.
