In an inspiring initiative, the Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment (SURE) has launched a unique training program in Meghalaya to revive the traditional craft of making ‘Khon Mu-ke’ dolls of the Pnar community. Led by Dr. H.H. Mohrmen, this program has trained 30 young individuals in the art of creating these beautiful dolls from waste cloth, dressed in traditional attire. Master trainer Ibaphimon Shylla highlights that these dolls will be sold at souvenir outlets, tourist spots, and online platforms, providing a sustainable source of income for the trainees. The trainees are already seeing positive market demand, with inquiries pouring in from friends and family after showcasing their creations on social media.
