Tura, Sept 26: The West Garo Hills Police have arrested eight persons involved in a series of robberies at Adingre and Sadolpara villages under Dadenggre Police Station on September 11.
According to police, the gang of robbers looted two shops owned by senior citizens, assaulting them during the incidents and fleeing with mobile phones, goods and cash amounting to ₹6,000 and ₹68,000 respectively. Both victims sustained injuries in the attack. Following the incidents, two separate cases were registered at Dadenggre Police Station—Case No. 08/2025 under Sections 310(2)/118(1)/3(5) BNS and Case No. 07/2025 under Sections 309(4)/118(1)/3(5) BNS.
Acting swiftly, the district police launched a coordinated operation and arrested all accused persons from different locations across West Garo Hills. Those apprehended include Paul B. Marak (27), arrested from Damal Asim Market; Rajiv B. Marak alias Lakingsbirth (30), arrested from Jengjal; Silwen Ch. Sangma (31), arrested from Okkapara in Damalgre; Rebellious A. Sangma alias Klen (37), arrested from Rongram; Jakbrash Jakson R. Marak (25), arrested from Tikrikilla; Tengseng alias Tatlu R. Marak (20), arrested from Tikrikilla; Bethani R. Marak (25), arrested from Tikrikilla and Sillieng B. Sangma (28), also arrested from Tikrikilla.
Police further informed that a motorcycle used in the commission of the crime was seized and the mobile phones stolen from the shopkeepers were recovered from the possession of the arrested men.
