Woman critically injured in wild bison attacked in Tripura’s Sepahijala

Agartala, Apr 2: A woman was severely injured after a wild bison attacked her at Kathalia area in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Monday.

The injured woman has been identified as Sridevi Noatia, a resident of Kathalia.

According to locals, the wild bison has been roaming in the area for past few days which was come out from Trishna wildlife sanctuary. The injured woman has been admitted at a government hospital.

Talking to media persons, victim’s husband Laxmi Pada Noatia said, “My wife was returning home after collecting firewood from a rubber plantation, the wild bison suddenly appeared infront of her and attacked her. She was critically injured due to the attack and undergoing treatment at hospital,”.

With chest injuries initially rushed to the district hospital, but Sridevi’s condition soon worsened, prompting her referral to the GBP hospital in Agartala for further medical intervention.

Tripura forest minister Animesh Debbarma accompanied by Principal Chief Conservators of Forests (PCCFs) and other senior officials rushed to the hospital to take stock of the health condition of the woman.

Debbarma said that the woman belonged to a poor family and the government will do whatever support for treatment.
