Resubelpara, Feb 27: Innovation and scientific curiosity took centre stage in North Garo Hills as students from across the district presented creative science models and projects at the District Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children 2025–2026.
Organised by the Office of the District School Education Officer (DSEO), North Garo Hills, the exhibition was held at Resubelpara under the theme “STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat,” aiming to nurture scientific temper and problem-solving skills among school students.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Abhishek Saini inaugurated the exhibition and toured the stalls displaying student projects. Addressing the gathering, he stressed the growing importance of STEM education in building a developed and self-reliant India.
He encouraged students to cultivate a scientific mindset and pursue Science and Mathematics with confidence, urging them not to view the subjects as difficult. “Once concepts are clearly understood, these subjects become engaging and enjoyable,” he said, underscoring the need for curiosity and critical thinking.
The Deputy Commissioner also called upon teachers to adopt creative and engaging teaching methods to make Science and Mathematics more accessible and interesting for students.
District School Education Officer B.M. Hajong and Sub-Divisional School Education Officer W.G. Momin were also present at the programme, along with teachers and students from various schools across the district.
Participants showcased innovative models aligned with the exhibition theme, reflecting their understanding of STEM concepts and their relevance to nation-building, sustainability and self-reliance.
Officials said the exhibition not only provided a platform for young minds to demonstrate their creativity but also encouraged collaborative learning and exposure to practical applications of classroom knowledge.
The event forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen STEM education at the grassroots level and inspire students to explore careers in science and technology.
