Shillong, June 27: Two cadres of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) have surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, Eastern West Khasi Hills.

Dibarius Jyrwa (32) and Ridor Lyngdoh Nonglait (30) revealed that they were misguided by Samuel Wahlang Pahsyntiew, a wanted individual in connection with the Shillong Sadar Police Station case related to the Shillong Syndicate Bus stand IED blast, to join the HNLC. They claimed that they fled to Bangladesh with Pahsyntiew.

According to the Superintendent of Police, the surrendering cadres stated that they were associated with the HNLC and were assigned to perform menial tasks, including cultivation-related tasks, which they felt were unrelated to the organization’s propaganda.
The cadres expressed disillusionment and dissatisfaction with the tasks assigned to them by the senior cadres of HNLC over 15 months. They decided to run away from Bangladesh on June 20, 2025, with the intention of returning to mainstream society and regretted joining the proscribed HNLC.

The SP termed the surrender as a significant development. They have been interviewed, their statements recorded, and they have been placed in a secure location pending further necessary action.
