SHILLONG, JUL 2: A fresh round of electoral roll updating is in full swing across East Khasi Hills, with Booth Level Officers fanning out to 898 polling parts since June 30 to distribute enumeration forms to households in all 15 Assembly constituencies of the district.
63,731 enumeration forms had been distributed and 1,401 digitized as of July 2, three days into the Special Intensive Revision Enumeration Phase.
The exercise is scheduled to complete distribution and collection of filled forms by July 29.
“The Special Intensive Revision Enumeration Phase commenced on 30th June 2026 in all the 898 parts of all the 15 Assembly Constituencies in East Khasi Hills District,” the District Election Officer said in a statement on Thursday.
Among the constituencies, Pynursla reported the largest number of forms issued so far, while Mawlai and Mawryngkneng also recorded high distribution figures. In terms of digitization, Mawphlang has taken an early lead, followed by Nongthymmai and Mawlai.
Officials said the house-to-house campaign is being closely monitored, with photographs of the enumeration process documented for reference. A dedicated District SIR Helpline has also been activated to address public queries.
“The District SIR Helpline received nine calls as on 2nd July 2026 and the issues were resolved,” the statement said.
The revision drive is being carried out under the Election Commission’s theme “Greater Participation for a Stronger Democracy.”
The District Election Officer said the objective is to ensure accuracy in the electoral roll ahead of upcoming electoral exercises.
