Tura, Nov 1: All Souls’ Day will be observed tomorrow, November 2nd across catholic cemeteries in Garo Hills and the Catholic church has put out guidelines that are aimed at doing away wasteful expenditure when it comes to beautifying the tombs by families and also following covid guidelines.
Families are being told to reduce the high spending when it comes to beautifying the tombs of loved ones, especially the use of fresh flowers.
Some families are having to spend thousands of rupees to beautify their graves that hold the remains of their family members, and this is having a telling effect on expenditure.
“Families should put on not more than two floral wreaths on each tomb and the capacity of the participants ought to be only one third of the actual capacity. There shall be only two members of each family who have a grave at the cemetery and every participant must wear a double mask and social distance. A hand sanitizer outside the gate will need to be used before entry,” announced the cemetery committee entrusted by the church for the event.
At the Sacred Heart and Cathedral Church Cemetery in R C Road, Tura, church service begins from 1:30 in the afternoon and the gates will close by 6 PM.
