ANTF warns owners against renting properties, vehicles for drug trafficking

Shillong, July 29: The Superintendent of Police of the state’s Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) Giri Prasad has issued a warning to property owners and vehicle owners, cautioning them against allowing their premises or vehicles to be used for drug trafficking or related activities.

According to Section 25 of the NDPS Act, knowingly permitting premises or vehicles for drug trafficking is a punishable offence, carrying the same punishment as drug trafficking, he said in a press release issued on Tuesday.

Property owners and vehicle owners are urged to report any suspicious activities to the nearby police station or the state ANTF immediately.

“Hence, all house owners and vehicle owners renting your house or vehicle respectively, kindly report to the nearby police station or the state ANTF, immediately if there is a suspicion that your property/vehicle is being used for the purpose of drug trafficking or any other related activities punishable under NDPS Act, 1985,” the SP stated.
