Tura, July 29: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday rolled out a series of development projects in Tura, focusing on fitness, education, and sports infrastructure.

Sangma also revealed that the Tura Botanical Garden at Goanang is set for a major revamp with ₹3.8 crore earmarked for creating walking pathways, a canopy walk, and a cafeteria. Similarly, Nehru Park will be upgraded with recreational and learning facilities for visitors.

As part of his day-long visit, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for a new classroom at Bidanchi Higher Secondary School, funded under the Chief Minister’s Special Development package with an allocation of ₹10 lakh. He also distributed sanction letters worth over ₹80 lakh to 12 social and educational organisations in Tura.

Reviewing progress at the Indoor Stadium in Sunny Hills, Sangma directed officials to complete the project by December to enable badminton and other events for the upcoming 39th National Games, in which Tura will co-host several disciplines.
