Missing minor girls from Tlongpleng village found safe in Shillong

Shillong, July 22: Two minor girls who were reported missing from South West Khasi Hills district on Wednesday morning have been traced safe in Shillong, police said.

Speaking to reporters, SP (City) Dangaan Khyriem said the information was received from the Superintendent of Police of South West Khasi Hills that the two girls, aged around 11 and 13 years, had gone missing from Tlongpleng village, Balat area.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the girls boarded a bus intending to travel to Mawsynram. However, they instead reached Shillong, where they got down at Anjali Point before boarding a city ride bus to Nongrah.

The girls later reached the residence of their relatives in Nongrah, the SP added.

The relatives subsequently brought them to Rynjah Police Station, where police are carrying out the necessary formalities and recording their statements to ascertain how they travelled to Shillong.

SP said both girls are safe and unharmed.

“They are safe. There are no injuries or any other issues. They are currently with their relatives and are at Rynjah Police Station while the required formalities are being completed,” he informed.
