SHILLONG, JUL 22: The 5th Basic Training Course for newly recruited non-combatant personnel concluded on Wednesday with a passing out parade at Agillangre Field, held amid much enthusiasm.

The event began early in the morning with the “Fall In” of contingents. Merinpole K. Sangma, Director of Civil Defence and Inspector General, SDRF, Shillong, attended as the chief guest.

He inspected the parade after receiving a formal general salute and also witnessed the Nishan Toli ceremony.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by P.T. Sangma, Divisional Commandant, Home Guards, Tura. Following this, the trainees presented an impressive march past.

The District Home Guards Commandant then read out the training report, detailing the course and performance of the recruits.

The parade was attended by several dignitaries along with family members and local residents who came to celebrate the successful completion of training.

Special awards were presented to trainees who stood out in physical training, drill and overall conduct during the course.

Addressing the gathering after the awards, Merinpole K. Sangma congratulated the recruits for their dedication and discipline.

He noted the increasing role of Civil Defence in the state and said the values learned during training would serve as a foundation for their service.

He urged the new personnel to carry out their duties with commitment, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.

The program ended with a final march past, formally marking the completion of the 5th Basic Training Course and the induction of the new recruits into service for the community and the state.
