Williamnagar, Oct 13: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the Apollo Telehealth Centre under the Smart Village Movement in collaboration with Apollo Hospital at Rongjeng in East Garo Hills.
To address the critical healthcare challenges including accessibility, availability and affordability of basic healthcare services, the Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Smart Village Movement, has engaged Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited to setup Digital Dispensaries in 5 locations in the State, based on the need and disease burden identified.
Services that will be available in the Digital Dispensary include primary & special tele consultation & tele lab services. The project is a self sustaining & pay-per-use model with subsidised rates charged from patients.

Digital Dispensaries services in 5 locations
Through technology enabled healthcare interventions, the Digital dispensaries program will provide access to healthcare services to the tribal and underserved population of Khasi and Garo Hills regions in 5 locations:
1. Tyrsad – East Khasi District
2. Mawdngung – East Khasi District
3. Rongjeng – East Garo Hills District
4. Dadenggre – West Garo Hills District
5. Tura – West Garo Hills District
Services offered at the Digital Dispensaries include Primary Tele Consultations, Specialty & Super Specialty Teleconsultations, Tele Laboratory Services, Screening for Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Social Health Education.
The project has been designed to be a self-sustaining and pay-per-use model, with subsidized/nominal rates being charges from the patients for the services provided at the digital dispensaries.
