Arunachal Pradesh Wushu players’ return home after China denies visas

Itanagar, Sept 26: In a shocking incident, three Wushu players from Arunachal Pradesh returned to their home state on Tuesday after being denied visas by Chinese authorities.

The young Wushu players recieved warm welcome at the Naharlagun Railway station on Tuesday as they returned home.

The three players who were denied visas were Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega, and Mepung Lamgu.

The three Indian athletes were denied entry to China to compete in the Hangzhou Asian Games last week.

While returning to the home state, Mepung Lamgu said, “What can we do about it?…even Union Minister(Anurag Thakur) boycotted his trip (to Asian Games) this is a big thing. We will do our best next time…”

While, Nyeman Wangsu said, “Our game has started there (China), we feel hurt when we see that, we didn’t get to play there…but we won’t back down, we will keep going forward and try to give our best in the future.”

Onilu Tega said, “We’re all sad, our coach is especially sad because it was his biggest dream to see us participate in the Asian Games…we will work harder and will participate in the upcoming game…”

Meanwhile, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur while addressing the issue said, “As per the Olympic charter, the players should have been granted visas. China should have granted the visas. Arunachal Pradesh is and will remain an integral part of India. India will not bow down….”
