Guwahati, June 14: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged his Uttarakhand counterpart, Pushkar Singh Dhami, to initiate a thorough investigation into the mysterious death of Rosmita Hojai, a young woman from Assam’s Dima Hasao district.
Rosmita had reportedly travelled to Delhi for a recruitment examination and later accompanied two individuals to Rishikesh. She was reported missing on June 6, and her body was recovered from the Ganga River five days later under suspicious circumstances.
Expressing concern over the incident, Sarma wrote on social media platform X: “We are distressed by the death of Rosmita Hojai, particularly the circumstances surrounding her death. I have personally requested the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri @pushkardhami J, to examine the issue so that justice can be delivered.”
Family members have alleged foul play and demanded a proper investigation. A Zero FIR was registered in Assam and transferred to the concerned police station in Uttarakhand for further action.
The case has sparked widespread concern in Assam, with demands for accountability and transparency in the probe.
