Assam: CM’s Secretariat to be inaugurated in Dibrugarh on Sept 6

Dibrugarh, Sept 5: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh on Friday. Dibrugarh will be first district in Assam, after Dispur, where the CM’s Secretariat will be established.

The new chief minister’s office in Dibrugarh will operate at least four days a month. It will be dedicated to serving the North and Upper Assam regions.

In 2016, during a Nagarik Sabha in Dibrugarh, a Dibrugarh-based journalist Jyotirmoy Hazarika had urged the then Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to establish CM’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh.

Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan said, “On September 6, 2024, CM secretariat will be inaugurated in Dibrugarh. Its main aim is to decentralise power and the people of upper Assam can easily get their problems addressed here without going to Dispur. I would like to thank Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma for establishing the CM’s Secretariat.”

“It is a very good news for the people of upper Assam because CM’s Secretariat is going to be inaugurated in Dibrugarh soon. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the CM secretariat on September 6. The CM’s Secretariat will immensely help the people of upper Assam. The people of upper Assam have to travel 500-550 kms to reach Dispur for their work, but now without any hassle their work will be done here. After its establishment, the people of Dibrugarh can easily meet chief minister to get their issued resolved,” said Utpal Baruah, a senior citizen of Dibrugarh.

The CM’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh, which will run parallelly to the existing Secretariat in Dispur, is being established to facilitate the smooth execution of administrative tasks for all the nine districts in Upper Assam- Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji.
