Guwahati, Sept 3: In a major breakthrough against inter-state drug trafficking, Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF), in coordination with Kamrup district police, seized 910 grams of heroin worth about ₹8 crore on Monday.
Acting on source-based intelligence, police intercepted a red Hyundai i10 (Regn. No. MN 01-AW-2641) at Ammingaon. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 74 soap boxes of heroin, cleverly concealed in the door panels and rear compartment.

Two suspected drug peddlers — Gogou Suantak (33), son of Thangneinak Suantak of Sheiphei village, and Seilun Vaiphei (39), son of Thangkho Vaiphei of Makhao village — both from Churachandpur district of Manipur, were arrested.
The operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak of the STF, who termed it a significant success in Assam Police’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks. Legal proceedings under the NDPS Act have been initiated, and the seized vehicle has also been taken into custody.
