Assam: Gas leakage from AGCL triggers panic among residents in Tinsukia

Tinsukia, March 18: A gas leakage at Assam Gas Company triggered panic in the panitola area in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday.

According to reports, after the suspected gas leakage from Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), the villagers were left in fear and confusion. “No action has been taken by the AGCL in connection with the incident so far. We are in fear and confusion,” alleged a villager.

Sources said steps are being taken to control the situation.

The incidents has triggered panic in the entire area because three years ago, Baghjan blowout had affected the village in Tinsukia district.

The well no. 5 at Baghjan had been spewing gas uncontrollably since May 27, 2020, and caught fire on June 9, killing two fire fighters of OIL.
