SHILLONG, DEC 5: Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma on Friday condoled the passing away of former legislator and minister Rain Augustine Lyngdoh.
Lyngdoh, who represented Sohiong Constituency, was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in 1988 from the United Democratic Party (UDP) and served till 2003.
During his tenure, he held the post of Minister of State and was actively involved in sports activities, particularly football.

“The Speaker and the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly extend its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and all those whose lives were touched by his leadership,” said a statement from the Assembly Secretariat.
Speaker Thomas A Sangma remembered Lyngdoh for his dedication to public service, humility, and earnest efforts to uphold the welfare of the community. “He will be remembered for his contributions to the State and his exemplary service as a legislator, which will continue to inspire many,” he said.
