Palasbari, April 5: With just days to go for polling, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has projected a decisive victory for the BJP and its allies, estimating a tally of 95 to 102 seats after what he described as an overwhelming response during the final stretch of campaigning.

Speaking after a large rally in Palasbari in support of BJP candidate Himangsu Baishya, Sarma pointed to crowd turnout as an indicator of the political mood, claiming that the scale of participation reflects a consolidation of support across constituencies.

A key emphasis of his pitch was on women voters.

Sarma said the visible presence of women at campaign events signals not just individual backing, but wider family-level support, reinforcing the BJP’s outreach through welfare schemes and targeted social programmes. The Orunodoi scheme, in particular, was highlighted as a major driver of this engagement.

The Chief Minister also leaned heavily on the development narrative, describing the current phase as a “golden era” for Assam. He cited upcoming infrastructure projects, including proposed connectivity across the Brahmaputra and investments in emerging sectors, as markers of long-term growth.

At the same time, Sarma underscored improvements in law and order and efforts to deliver jobs without corruption, positioning governance as a central plank of the campaign.

The BJP leader also accused the Congress of attempting to influence voters through misinformation and fabricated content, adding that legal steps have already been initiated in response.

With campaigning entering its final days, Sarma maintained that the election atmosphere has remained largely peaceful, crediting improved stability in the state.

Polling is scheduled for April 9, as parties push through the last leg of outreach in what is shaping up to be an intense contest.
