Shillong, Aug 28: A Career Guidance and Counselling programme was conducted by the District Administration, East Khasi Hills District on Thursday at the Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong as part of the special open recruitment rally for ST youth from Meghalaya.
The event aimed to provide comprehensive information about the recruitment process and motivate eligible candidates to join the Border Security Force (BSF).
This drive, as per instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, seeks to fill 300 vacancies of Constable (General Duty) for Scheduled Tribe candidates from the state.
The Programme was graced by S.Warjri, MCS Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Commandant Establishment BSF, Frontier Headquarter Shillong, retired. Lt Colonel Sebastian Marbaniang, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Shillong, retired Lt. Colonel Aibanjop Suting, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Tura.
S. Warjri, emphasized the program’s significance, stating that the District Administration aims to offer a platform to guide aspiring candidates in preparing for the recruitment rally. He also announced that the District Administration would provide free coaching for the competitive written entrance exam to candidates who qualify in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Commandant Establishment BSF, Frontier Headquarter Shillong, serving as a resource person, announced that a total of 300 vacancies have been allocated for Meghalaya.
The specific details are provided below:
Entire State: 191 vacancies for males and 34 for females.
Border Districts: 64 vacancies for males and 11 for females.
Total Vacancies: 255 for males and 45 for females, totaling 300 positions in Meghalaya.
Recruitment Process & Eligibility: The recruitment process consists of several stages:
Publication of advertisements.
Offline application submission.
Document verification, Physical Standard Test (PST), and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Written exam.
Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Review Medical Examination (RME).
Publication of the final merit list and issue of appointment letters.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must be Indian citizens.
The age limit is 18 to 28 years as of August 1, 2025, which includes a 5-year relaxation. This means candidates must have been born between August 2, 1997, and August 1, 2007. Applicants must also have passed the Matriculation or 10th class exam from a recognized board or university.
Physical Standards & Tests
Candidates must meet specific physical criteria:
Height: 157 cm for males and 147.5 cm for females.
Chest (Male only): 76 cm unexpanded, with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
Weight: Must be proportionate to the candidate’s height and age
The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) includes a race:
Male: 5 km in 24 minutes.
Female: 1.6 km in 8 minutes and 30 seconds
Written Examination
The written exam will be a 100-mark objective-type test completed in two hours. The syllabus covers:
General Intelligence & Reasoning
General Knowledge & Awareness
Elementary Mathematics
English/Hindi

The recruitment process is scheduled to follow these dates:
Advertisement Publication: August 18, 2025, to September 1, 2025.
Application Submission & Document Verification: September 2, 2025, to September 18, 2025.
PST & PET: September 22, 2025, to October 9, 2025.
Written Exam: October 18, 2025.
Declaration of Written Test Results: October 22, 2025.
Medical Examination: October 27, 2025, to November 4, 2025.
Final Merit List Preparation: November 5, 2025, to November 8, 2025.
Result Declaration: November 10, 2025.
