Civil bodies seek intervention of Rajya Sabha MP

Shillong, Dec 4: The organization Ka Sur U Paidbah Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep has sought the intervention of the Rajya Sabha MP and also the president of NPP, W.R. Kharlukhi to address some of the pertinent issues in the state.

The organization pointed out that there is an urgent need to pass an official resolution in the Meghalaya Assembly to impress upon the central government to constitute a special Boundary Commission to resolve the pending unresolved matter.

Another issue is the inclusion of Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution which has been pending for long.

It may be mentioned that the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on September 2018 came together and passed a resolution to press for inclusion Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

The organization also mentioned about the implementation of ILP in the state of Meghalaya.

The need for an official government assembly resolution in the Meghalaya Assembly for amendment of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act 1976 list to ensure that only the indigenous tribes of the state are listed in the Meghalaya was also raised by the organization.
