Shillong, Aug 26: In an unusual request, opposition Congress has asked the coalition partners of the NPP-led MDA government to table a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) against the present government during the upcoming Autumn Session of Meghalaya Assembly, and assured to support the same.
The Assembly is scheduled to be held from September 10 to 17.
“People of the state are telling us that this time members who are in the ruling dispensation should table a No-Confidence Motion against the government – that is the inputs that have been shared with us,” Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma told reporters on Wednesday.
“If anybody tables, we will be there (to support),” he added.
He said the opposition will not table the No-Confidence Motion, as ‘people of the State’ want the ruling members to table the motion.
“Whether they (ruling members) agree or not it is up to them but if they table then we are there,” he said.
