Tura, June 19: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma attended the Education Conclave at Tura, where he engaged with stakeholders and government officials on interventions to upscale the standard of education in the state.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, Vice Chancellor of Captain Williamson Sangma State University, Dr. Vasanthi Vijaykumar, and other senior officials were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister spoke on the importance of education in shaping the minds of the younger generation, highlighting the state’s young population as both an opportunity and a challenge.
He stressed the need to harness this demographic dividend by providing quality education and skills to the youth, thereby converting a potential challenge into an opportunity.
He also highlighted the government’s initiatives to transform the education sector, including renovating government schools and colleges, establishing the Captain Williamson Sangma State University, and investing in sports and music infrastructure. “Our interventions aims to channelise the positive energy of our youth”, he added.
Talking on the importance of collaboration and partnership with organizations like the Mothers’ Union to improve learning outcomes, he said, “Government is keen to work in collaboration with the community. A collaboration would mean to work in partnership with the government to improve learning outcomes”.
During the conclave, an MoU was signed with Mothers’ Union Tura for management of 20 Government LP Schools.
During the conclave, several key initiatives were launched, including the Meghalaya School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (MSQAAF) and the CM IMPACT Meghalaya Learning Enhancement Programme (M-LEP). Educational tablets were also distributed to students with special educational needs.
The chief minister also urged all stakeholders to work together to find solutions to the challenges facing the education sector and to focus on positively contributing to the state’s development.
Stating that education is a critical pillar of the government’s development agenda and that the state is committed to investing in its youth.
The conclave provided a platform for brainstorming and discussion on how to improve the education sector, with a focus on finding solutions and working together to achieve common goals.
