Shillong, Sept 15: On International Democracy Day, Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday launched the ‘MyMeG Program’, an initiative of the Government of Meghalaya to facilitate citizen engagement and participation in the governance process. The program has been designed with a vision to accelerate the pace of development by engaging and empowering citizens and promoting participatory governance.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangma said, “In the last three and half years, our government has taken several steps to ensure holistic development of the state. Our vision is to transform Meghalaya into one of the Top ten states in the country by 2030. To achieve this, we have been working tirelessly to improve the well-being of our farmers, women, youth, and every section of the society.”To take this further, he said the government wants citizens participation and engagement in the governance process.
“With the launch of MyMeG Program, we aim to promote participatory democracy in Meghalaya, where people can contribute in the governance process and share their feedback on various government programs and initiatives. This will bring transformation in governance by citizen participation, engagement, and empowerment,” he said.The government believes that MyMeG platform will accelerate the pace of development in Meghalaya and help in achieving its vision of emerging as one of the top 10 state by 2030.Aims of MyMeG
MyMeG program aims to connect with citizens through face-to-face and digitalplatforms that will facilitate: –
— Citizen centric information on benefits of key schemes and program
— Track progress of the schemes, programs andinitiatives at district, block, and villagelevel.
— Participate and share feedback and opinions through polls and surveys
— Citizen engagement through townhall meetings, outreach activities, digital quiz, and contest etc.
— Knowledge Management Team to coordinate with the department and mobilize the program
Meghalaya Govt’s initiatives for inclusive development (sub head)
– In the last few years, Meghalaya government has taken many initiatives to promote inclusive development through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS), Self-Help Groups (NRLM), Jal Jeevan Mission etc.
– Meghalaya is among the best states in the country in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Program.
– In the last one year, the government has spent a total of Rs. 1370 crore under this program and transferred about Rs. 15,000 per annum into accounts of about 6 lakh households in the state.
– More than 33,000 self-help groups have been formed in the last three years, who have received funding support of about Rs. 8.4 crore this year from the government.
– In the last two years, the government has constructed about 1000 Kms of rural roads, and provided household tap connections to 1.3 lakh number of households.
