Shillong, Jan 8: With the aim of giving the community and the youth a space to gather for community building and other productive activities, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Community Hall-cum- Sports Complex at Jaïaw Lannsonalane.

In his speech, the Chief Minister said the project will be constructed at an amount of Rs. 18 lakhs for the first phase under the Chief Minister Special Development Fund (CMSDF).

“This project is a small step but a meaningful one, and with the efforts of all the leaders and the community and each one of us, if we work together, we will ensure that we will be able to complete this project on time and complete all the flaws of this particular project,” he told the gathering.

The foundation was laid by the Chief Minister in the presence of Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong, Ransom Sutnga, K M Warjri who are the Chairmen of Lannsonalane Block Committee and together with the members of the executive committee Jaïaw Lannsonalane.

Also lauding Chairman Ransom Sutnga’s efforts for the fruition of the project, the CM said it was because of the request of Sutnga that the entire amount of Rs. 18 lakhs was sanctioned by the government. It is worth mentioning here that the CMSDF usually sanctions an amount of Rs. 10 lakhs as it is a fund for utilities for the entire state.

CM Conrad also assured the people of Jaïaw Lansonalane that within 7-10 days the money will be transferred to the society’s account.

Ransom Sutnga, the Chairman, in his speech lauded the land owner who has gifted the plot of land to the Lower Lannsonalane Block.
