Tura, Jan 20: The border town of Dalu is on its way to becoming a sporting centre as the base for the first-ever stadium with a football turf was laid by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday.
The Stadium is to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.22 Crore.

 This multi-facility complex will comprise a state of the art football turf including an international standard seating gallery, a community meeting room, parking space for dozens of vehicles, a gym, office space, and other amenities.
On the same occasion, a new school building of the Dalu Bengali Secondary School was opened by the Chief Minister alongside local MLA Brening A Sangma and several other dignitaries.
“Education is the most important pillar for development and this government is working with utmost concern to upscale education and the interest of the youth,” said Conrad Sangma.
Recalling the words of his late father and former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma, the chief minister stressed on the importance of planting humans.
“This government understands the importance of investment in the youth who are the future of tomorrow. We are working on a comprehensive and systematic plan that will be in the interest and welfare of the youth,” said Conrad Sangma.
The Dalu Bengali Secondary School, funded by Asian Development Bank’s Supporting Human Capital Development has been equipped with the latest smart classroom and labs.
Giving details about the steps being taken on uplifting education, the chief minister mentioned that there are schools in the State with little or no basic facilities and for this the government has taken an approach to ensure that such schools are renovated with basic infrastructure.
In the next few years, around 800 govt schools will be renovated across the State, revealed the chief minister.
