Tura, May 5: The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Ram Singh on Wednesday chaired a district-level monitoring committee meeting on Medical Oxygen management.

In a social media post, the District Administration of West Garo Hills informed that at present Medical Oxygen is available in Tura Civil Hospital, Maternity and Child Hospital, Tura, Holy Cross Hospital, and Tura Christian Hospital.

The District Medical and Health Office also has reserved medical oxygen, including in various CHCs and PHCs.

More than 1000 cylinders of different capacities are available in the West Garo Hills district.

“Refilling is being done at Bongaigaon, Assam. We have one Oxygen plant with Holy Cross, one Oxygen Concentrator with MCH, one Oxygen plant in Tura Civil for which Civil works is underway,” the social media post said.

It is to be noted that the Cryogenic plant for Medical Oxygen will be set up shortly in Baljek, West Garo Hills.

“We have also sent our requirements for extra Oxygen cylinders to the department in case of super surge. Supply chain to Bongaigaon with Nodal officer and security in case of requirement is already setup along with necessary liasoning with District Administration Bongaigaon and backup tie-up with Byrnihat plant,” the post added.

“At present our consumption is 6-8 cylinders per day,” it added.
