Shillong, July 8: A delegation of the All Garo Hills MTET Passed Candidates Association 2021 and 2023 on Tuesday met the Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma urging the government to speed up the recruitment of lower and upper primary school teachers.
According to them, the delay has caused uncertainty and hardship to thousands of qualified candidates.
During the meeting, the association requested a relaxation of the age criteria for candidates who have crossed the maximum age limit due to the non-conduct of recruitment examinations for many years.
The association strongly requested that recruitment be conducted batch-wise, giving due preference to the 2021 and 2023 MTET passed candidates.
The association pointed out the discrepancy in the MTET pass criteria between 2021/2023 and 2025, and requested due preference to be given to candidates who passed under stricter norms.
The association appreciated the time and attention given by the Education Minister and hopes for urgent and positive action to ensure justice for all affected candidates and to strengthen the education system in the state.
